In Nepal, retail petrol and diesel pricing is segmented into three operational categories based on geographical freight distance from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) cross-border transit points:
- Category 1 (पहिलो वर्ग): Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj depots. These locations are closest to the Indian border and bear the minimum transportation surcharge.
- Category 2 (दोस्रो वर्ग): Surkhet and Dang depots, covering the mid-western transit corridor.
