About the Celebration
Nepal's biggest and most auspicious festive celebration, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. Families reunite, receive red Tika and golden Jamara blessings from elders, fly colorful kites, and swing on traditional bamboo ping.

Commemorates Goddess Durga's victory over the demon Mahishasura. A 15-day celebration that brings together families across the nation and the diaspora.
Key Rituals & Days
- Ghatasthapana (Day 1): Sowing barley seeds for Jamara
- Fulpati (Day 7): Royal offering of sacred plants and flowers
- Maha Asthami & Maha Navami (Days 8-9): Worship of Goddess Durga and tools of trade (Vishwakarma puja)
- Vijaya Dashami (Day 10): Receiving Tika, Jamara, and Dakshina from respected elders
- Kojagrat Purnima (Day 15): The concluding full moon vigil dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi
